[9-20-12] AnandTech – Nixeus NX-VUE27 27″ Monitor: High Resolution for the Masses:
Introduction, Design, and OSD
The price model for 27” IPS displays has been turned on its head recently by imported models from Korea that you can buy on eBay. Selling for as little as $350, these are stripped down models that lack inputs beyond DVI, have no OSD, have very minimal stands, and often have very little in the way of support. They also use A- grade panels where tolerances for stuck pixels and uniformity errors might not be as high as they are with A or A+ panels that are used in most displays. [click here for full review]
[8-2-12] Engadget – Nixeus shows off 27-inch IPS Vue monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution:
Greenhorn Nixeus, perhaps better known for media streamers, has jumped headfirst into the display market with the 27-inch IPS Vue model boasting a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel WQHD resolution and priced at $430 — around half what you’ll pay for similar panels. [click here for full review]
[8-1-12] AnandTech – Nixeus Vue 27″ : A $430 WQHD (2560×1440) S-IPS LED Monitor:
Monitors with resolutions greater than 1080p have always commanded a premium. While 1920×1200 monitors have become rare, 2560×1440 (WQHD) and 2560×1600 (WQXGA) continue to have a steady, but costly, presence in the market. Even brands such as Doublesight (which don’t command the same recognition as, say, Dell or Samsung) price their WQHD offerings around $1000. Under these conditions, budget consumers looking for their high resolution fix have had to resort to Korean brand units from eBay. We had a cursory lookat one such unit, the Achieva Shimian QH270, earlier this year. [click here for full review]

Android’s has already hit the set top box world with the Google TV, but that isn’t trueAndroid. This is, packing Android 2.2. Or, at least, it will be when it ships sometime toward the middle of the year. It’s the Nixeus Fusion XS, a Marvell 88DE3010-powered media streamer with 2GB of flash memory and 512MB of RAM, and unfortunately a little processor fan that hopefully doesn’t make too much noise. [3-11-11] AnandTech – Nixeus Fusion XS Brings Marvell into the DMA Market:
The DMA (Digital Media Adapter) aka media streamer market has been dominated by Sigma Designs, Realtek and of late, the Intel CE 4xxx series. The low end market is catered to by the Boxchip and Amlogic based media streamers.
Having got the codec compatibility right (at least on paper), the choice for the media streamer manufacturers was to either go the 3D route or add extra non-core functionality in the next-gen products. 3D is yet to go mainstream despite the best efforts of the top tier manufacturers. [3-4-11] AnandTech – Nixeus Fusion HD Review:
Startups in the US media streamer market are not very common. There are a number of small companies (like Micca and Brite-View) active in this space, but media streamers are not their sole products. Nixeus, a Los Angeles based company, was founded in 2010 with the intention of making inroads into the competitive media streamer market. [click here for full review]
[2-22-11] Review: Hands On: Nixeus Fusion HD Media Player – Electronic House:
In recent years the market has welcomed an assortment of new media streamers and servers designed to feed our hunger for more content. They generally fall into two camps: those that pull content from the Web and those that collect and sort the user’s own content. The Nixeus Fusion HD is a little bit of both. The latest round of large-screen TVs that have built-in WiFi and online interactivity are a great way to get the classroom to connect without needing a separate computer, but they are still expensive and limited in the scope of what they can connect to. The Nixeus Fusion HD is a better way to connect a TV, monitor or projector to incorporate the world into a lesson plan. [click here for full review]
